Moscow Nights-How to sing in Russian!

Intro by WanWan:
Zhenya’s Ribbon 2008 is sooo classic, the rouitne and the music! I fell in love with this rouitne and the music when I first time watched it @OG Beijing 2008. I just can’t get away from Zhenya’s beautiful ribbon and this music and watched it over and over again!

I always deeply hope I can learn to sign it in Russian, glad Alyona wrote down the Latin Transcription, BILLION THANKS TO HER!!! and also many thanks Joao’s beautiful  banner!

NIGHTS BETWEEN MOSCOW AND LENINGRAD

“Moscow Nights” is a well-known song, which was written by Vasily Solyev-Sedoy and Michael Matusovsky after the World War II. One of the authors was born in Leningrad, and at first he wanted to call the song “Leningrad Nights”.
The song became very popular in 1957 after the International Youth Festival which was held in Moscow. That time the song became an anthem of the festival and touched the hearts not only of Soviet people, but also the hearts of many foreigners. “Moscow Nights” is translated to many languages, but the real sense of it you can feel when listening to the original lyrics. So why not trying to sing it in Russian? Here we go with a short part. Have fun!

By the way, there is an interesting story how Zhenya decided to choose ”Moscow Nights” for her Ribbon 2008. Before the season 2008 Irina Viner – head coach of Russian National Team – went to China and visited one restaurant. At the door of the restaurant there was a bell singing the melody of Moscow Nights. And she says that every time when somebody entered the restaurant, all the visitors would start to smile and sing the song together with the melody. So this way she understood that Moscow Nights is a right song for the Olympic Program for China. On her return to Novogorsk she said: ”Zhenya, I know which music we shall choose for your ribbon!” And I must tell you she was 100% RIGHT!

Песня слышится и не слышится}

Not even a whisper is to be heard in the garden,
Everything has calmed down until dawn.
If you only knew how dear they are to me,
The evenings near Moscow!

The river is moving and (sometimes) not, All made of the moons silver.
A song sounds and is not to be heard In those quiet evenings.

Why do you, darling, look at me from the side,
Bending your head so low?
It is not easy to tell
All the things that are in my heart.

And dawn is getting more and more visible.
So, please, be so kind: You, also, dont forget
These summer evenings near Moscow.

Below’s videos the singer all is the original singer-Vladimir Troshin

This one is not the full version-without 3rd part

Note by WanWan: so according the story that Alyona wrote how Zhenya decided to choose this song for her ribbon music 2008. Then Maybe Viner already had this decision she wanted to let Zhenya to Beijing before season 2008, because “Moscow Nights” is a very popular song in China, it’s significant for several generations, many Chinese grow up with this song! and Viner gave this music to Zhenya not to Sesina!
================================================

Video-Georg OTS

Merry Christmas, Zhenya!

Merry Christmas, Zhenya!
written by Alyona

Today it’s the time to celebrate Orthodox Christmas in Russia.
Christmas is the most wonderful holiday; it’s the time for miracles and wonders. People say that any wish you make on Christmas will come true. So let us all make the one and only wish for Zhenya – let her always be healthy and achieve everything what she wants in this life. And for this is a family holiday, let us wish joy and well to her wonderful family members, who love and support her endlessly.

Russian people are the luckiest ones, because they have chance to celebrate Catholic Christmas on the 25th of December, followed by the New Year on the 1st of January. Then there come Orthodox Christmas on the 7th of January and please, don’t forget to congratulate your Russian friend on the “Old” New Year, which is on the 14th of January. You wonder – why so many holidays? It is all because of different calendars – in Russia all the Church Holidays are celebrated according to the Julian calendar which was introduced in the year 45 B.C. Later on the world changed the calendar to the Gregorian one, but Russian church remained on its strict dogmatic positions and refused to make any changes. Therefore, nowadays there is a two-week difference between Orthodox and Catholic Christmas celebrations.

In fact, it absolutely doesn’t matter when and where you celebrate holidays. What does matter is our concern for the people we love. It is very important to dream, make wishes and believe in them! Do it every single day and be sure, that one day the love you send will reach the heart of the person you care for)))))!

What I feel…by Laura

What I feel?…

It’s not easy. When I think about it, I feel the impossible. My heart says to me something that I can’t decipher, a strange shiver covers all my body and finally my mind starts to dream. Then slowly, I can hear clearly that which my heart was trying to say me. Only two words. Rhythmic Gymnastic.

When you are the most innocent girl over the whole world and you need to do the most beautiful thing for you, you will fight for get it. When I was like this girl, I fought for Rhythmic Gymnastic, and I achieved it. This was the moment when the love for an art was born.

Then, you realise that you have devoted your feelings, your thoughts…ALL for this.

And the most important…you can’t stop.

I wanted to be happy and enjoy myself doing one of the most important things for me.

I loved going to other places and show my work. I loved seeing other gymnasts. I found so curious that they dreamed with Rhythmic Gymnastic too. Simply, I loved routines, ropes, hoops, clubs, ribbons and balls. I loved Rhythmic Gymnastic.

Later, somebody appeared in my life. She…these routines… She did incredible routines. I had never seen routines like these. My eyes followed her moves without blink. Her moves carried me to other place. A place where I don’t wanted to leave. I only could pronounce one word: PERFECTION. I couldn’t stop watching this incredible moves, this magnificent
elegance…I couldn’t stop watching her.

Then, I asked: who is she?? They answer me: She is EVGENIA KANAEVA.

Since then, I have never forgotten her name.

I have practised RG since I was a little girl. I had never seen a gymnast like her. Nobody had fascinated me as she did.

She has taught me. I didn’t know that impossible is nothing, I didn’t know that the phrase –My dream came true- was right, even I dare say I didn’t know exactly what was Rhythmic Gymnastic. She has taught me all of this and the most important she continues doing teaching me.

Simply, I can say that I admire her. I LOVE ZHENYA.

CHEBURASHKA–FROM AFRICA TO VANCOUVER

Every kid, born in the countries of the former Soviet
Union, knows this funny word – Cheburashka. Cheburashka is a
character of a cartoon, which first appeared on television in 1969. It is an
imaginary animal on very short legs, with a very big head and huge ears as of a
monkey. At the same time his fur and his short tail reminds of a little bear.

The story tells that Cheburashka got to Russia
in a box of oranges delivered from Africa. He
just jumped into the box and fell asleep there, when he opened his eyes he
found himself in a grocery store of some unknown country. The store attendants
tried to send him to the Zoo, but no one knew which animal he was… So they
decided to give him to the Toys Shop where his adventures continued.

This
year Cheburashka is going to Vancouver
as a symbol of Russian National Olympic Team. Hopefully, he will bring luck and
joy to all the sportsmen!

Cheburashka~~

Cheburashuka:

ZHENYA KANAEVA HAS ENTERED THE ELITE LIST OF RUSSIA

As usual, at the end of the
year Russian Public
Opinion Poll
Center has published the list of Russia’s Elite.
The list consists of 37 names including politicians, scientists, people from
show business, famous directors, businessmen and only three sportsmen –
football players Andrey Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko, and Rhythmic Gymnastics’
Olympic Champion Evgenia Kanaeva.

Considering that Russian Federation is a huge
country with hundreds of notorious and well-known people, I think it is a big
honor for Zhenya to be mentioned among the thirty seven. The list of Russian
Elite is made according to the references in mass media. To let you understand
the significance of the list, it is enough to mention that the first position
is taken by ex-president and at present our prime-minister Vladimir Putin,
followed by the President of the Russian Federation – Dmitry
Medvedev. Some more names of the list – Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
Kirill (the Head of the Church), mayor of Moscow Yury Louzhkov, famous
businessmen and oligarch Roman Abromovich, world famous Opera singer Galina
Vishnevskaya and so on.

The
fact that Zhenya Kanaeva, by the way the youngest person of Russian Elite, is
mentioned in this list, proves one more time that Rhythmic Gymnastics gains
more and more popularity among Russian people. The school of Russian Rhythmic
Gymnastics has always been very strong and
outstanding, but unfortunately there has never been enough attention to this
beautiful sport paid by mass media. Nowadays, with Zhenya at the top, there is
a big hope that RG will gain higher popularity and attract more attention in
our country!

One
more time congratulations to Zhenya! I am sure she will not pay much attention
to being mentioned in Elite List, and she will continue her noble work for the
benefit of Rhythmic Gymnastics and her country.

Zhenya Kanaeva

Evgenia Kanaeva!

Medvedev。
Galina
Vishnevskaya。

Alyona

Note by Zoe Wan:

Nice and Interesting interview translation: Surprise Near the Christmas Tree

Today is the last day of year 2009. And I am happy to be able to make a little present for all Zhenya’s fans – translation of this lovely interview (I thank Zoe for the link).

Zhenya talks about the New Year traditions, her school performances as a child and the presents she gives and gets. This time there is no place for trainings and competitions – only holiday mood! And I wish you all to get inspired by this magical sense and enter the year 2010 with happiness, joy and love!

Alyona

Original Russian Text Link, please check here: (WanWan)
http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/363516

New Year is the time for wonders. The Rhythmic Gymnastics Olympic Champion Evgenia Kanaeva all of a sudden turned out to be a Snow Maiden, decorated our editorial office with her presence and received congratulations from Santa Claus.

– What a traffic jam there was! – said the gymnast as soon as she crossed the threshold of our office.

To tell the truth, we were waiting for Zhenya for a long time in the office. She doesn’t have much free time, and moreover it took her two hours to get here from Novogorsk. It is European Santa Clauses who can
fly by air on their deer relay and land on the roofs of the houses, but our
Snow Maidens have to put up with Moscow’s
terrible traffic.

HOME FEEDSTOCK

– How and where will the Olympic Champion celebrate the New Year?
– I am going to Omsk. Finally I will see everyone – my
granny, my mom and my brother. I am waiting for it so much, because I visit
home very seldom. Maybe I will even decorate the Christmas tree. I don’t know
why, but I feel that some surprise is expecting me at home.

– Maybe it is your favorite dish?
– Oh, I love fruit salad! But I will make it myself.
I don’t know what more will be prepared for the holiday table – my granny is in
charge. She is the chief cook and the main inventor.

– Unlike you, many sportsmen prefer to spend holidays on the sea shore.
– Oh, no! New Year is a family holiday; it must be celebrated within the family. You tell me they go to the sea together with their families? But there is no snow, no Christmas tree… I wouldn’t want to celebrate New Year somewhere in Australia or in Africa. Not in any exotic place, not
even in space. Only at home near the Christmas tree I can feel the real holiday
mood.

-Won’t you freeze in cold Siberia after rainy Moscow?
– I hope there will not be severe frosts. And I hope there won’t be such traffic jams like in Moscow.

CARTOON IN A FELT BOOT

-We already know what we shall wish you for New Year – to avoid traffic jams.
But what kind of present do you want to get?

– I always ask people not to give me any presents. But they never listen. Usually I get an animal toy – a symbol of the coming year according to Oriental calendar. I already have monkeys, rats. This year I will most probably get a tiger.

-Hopefully not a real one! Which present was the most memorable for you?
– I remember when I was a little girl, I don’t even know how old I was, and Santa Clause brought me and my brother a cartoon movie “Anastasia”. It was wonderful! That time I was dreaming of watching it! But our Santa Clause never left the presents under the Christmas tree. We had a little tradition to place a felt boot in front of the door. You know some people hang the stockings to collect the presents, and in Siberia we used to put out the felt boots. So our Santa put the film into the boot. We didn’t write any letter that year. Probably he could read our thoughts. He can do everything!

– And then you realized that it was your mom, and not the Santa…
– It happened later, at the age of 8-9 probably. My brother told me there was no Santa Clause but we would write a letter anyway.

– Zhenya, you came to us as a Snow Maiden. And who you used to dress up as at
school performances?

– Baba-Yaga. (*a scary old shrew – a character of Russian fairy tales)

– Really?
– Yes, really. All children dressed up as squirrels or snow flakes. We were staging a play and my teacher decided that I would be Baba-Yaga.

– And you burst into tears?
– Not at all! That time it made no difference for me who to perform as. They gave me some shabby old rags to put on. It was very funny. We used to play and dance around the Christmas tree.

– What did Santa give to you for that impressive character?
– Something sweet.

– Who would you, as a Snow Maiden, choose for Santa’s role? Imagine that all the
men of the world are in front of you…

– Hmm! Even if there were all the men, I would choose my brother Egor! He is three years older than me and as a child he used to put on Santa’s costume. So he has experience.

– Is he a sportsman as well?
– He is a student of Physical training department and he does wrestling.

– Well, half of the girls of your age would choose Sergey Bezroukov.  (* very famous young actor)
– Well, I like actors of course, Richard Gere for example, and many others. But I can’t say that I bliss out about them. That’s why my brother would have to be Santa.

– To continue the movie theme, what is the main New Year film for you?
– Of course, “An irony of fate or Hope you enjoyed your bath”! (* a very famous Russian
comedy movie telling a funny story which happened once on the New Year’s Eve
)
I watch it every year and it gives me the holiday mood. I also like the sequel
of it. So you were right to mention Sergey Bezroukov. (* Bezroukov was a star of the sequel)

– When did you make a snowman last time?
– Two years ago. It was during our winter camp. It started to snow outside and we decided to make a snowman with other girls. We made a pretty big one. But we couldn’t find a carrot to make his nose, so we used a cone. The coaches didn’t see us. If they did, I don’t know what they would say.

– Is New Year your favorite holiday?
– I have two favorite holidays – New Year and my birthday. But I like New Year more. You know I never celebrate my birthday at home. I am always at competitions or training camps. I have never had a celebration at home. But this year the girls from our team made a real surprise for me: while I was practicing, they blew up the balloons, put them into my
room and wrote a wish on each of them. It was really cool!

– What do you usually give as a present to the ones you love?
– Oh, I love to give presents! Even more that to get them. Once for New Year I gave my coach an embroidered picture. I did it myself. The present made with your own hands is always more dear. But anyway, any time you give presents, the person who gets them is happy. A person would never say: Oh, I don’t need it! At least, I have not met this kind of people
yet.

– Was it your mom and granny who taught you embroidery?
– No, some girl in the national team has started it and everyone “got infected” with it. But now there is no time for embroidery.

THERE CALLED THE SANTA CLAUS
Later our readers connected the conversation on phone, though they had already lost the hope to hear Zhenya after a long waiting.

– I am Victor Tambovsky from Chimki. Zhenya you are so young and beautiful. How is your life in Novogorsk, how do you spend your free time?
– Our sport complex in Novogorsk is really great. There are wonderful facilities for trainings, rest and rehabilitation. Maybe we even have the best conditions in the whole country. But I don’t have any free time. But if I have some, I try to sleep.

– A new device of bio circulation was bought for Novogorsk center. It has already
helped the players of “Rubin” football club to have a successful season. How
did you like it?

– It is a new device. I only tried it once. It is sort of special pants filled with air which changes the pressure inside. People say it works miracles. But the effect will be seen in a month.

Then there was a call from the main fan of the Snow Maiden. He lives in Great Ustyug and even has his own residence there. (* Great Ustyug – place on the north of Russia
where Russian Santa Claus is believed to live)

– Hello Zhenya, it is Santa Claus. I have just finished my meeting with
University students and I couldn’t help congratulating you on the New Year. I
wish you happiness and luck! Tell me, how did you behave yourself this year?

– Oh, what a surprise! Thanks for your wishes! I hope I was a good girl and I worked hard to reach the maximum result in sports.

– Then after a new victory I’ll be waiting for you at my home in Great Ustyug!
– Thank you! I am dressed up as a Snow Maiden now. But I don’t go to Ustyug; I’ll go to Omsk
to celebrate the New Year with my family.

Well, we will be waiting for this historical meeting of Santa Clause with his Snow Maiden after the first victory of the coming year. It won’t take long!

-Baba Yaga (

Baba Yaga

An irony of fate or Hope you enjoyed your bath”!
(

-Oh,What a surprise!
