@Anonymous, I just thought it’s really unfair that Merkulova could re-do her ribbon in AA…the organization made mistake to play the wrong music for her ribbon. but she performed with that wrong music and made mistakes (actually it’s her clubs music), then Irina Viner was unhappy about her score, she complained to the judges. Then the organization gave her a second chance…there is no such case before…even you can redo your routine, it’s just as an exhibition, you won’t get score
@Laura, tired and maybe pressure…..but she was just came back after illness and then two competitions in a row, definitely she looked tired. she is not fully recover I would say.
What happened was that Merkulova was definitely overscored. There are so many other gymnasts that are higher level in many aspects in talent, agility, grace, etc. Besides, her ribbon routine looked utterly ridiculous. They should stop making her act like a silly clown.
In a way I think Kanaeva can’t wait until the Olympics are finished and the pressure of everything is off her, but in another way I think she revels in the challenge and wants to make the most of her time in rhythmic gymnastics before moving onto the next chapter of her life.
Can someone please summarise what happened and the results? From what I have seen, I’m not sure what to think.
