here’s the translation for the News video about Russian gymnasts preparing for GP
English translated by Tatiana (BIG BIG THANKS TO HER!!!!!!!!!)
Moscow Gran-Prix starts on the 25th of February where all the strongest gymnasts of country (meant Russia) are going to participate. Our correspondent Dmitry Kanichev was watching for the last preparations of gymnasts in Novogorsk (what a lucky!!).
The main coach of the national team has arrived to the gym after prima of RG Evgenia Kanaeva left it for a while. But the pause will be short because Zhenya has 2nd training after lunch. And every day is the same. Due to the successfully built system of training the rivalry in the team is so high that even recognized leaders of team can’t be with no worries. And the line separating juniors from the contenders to the title of Olympic Champion is becoming less and less clear.
Evgenia Kanaeva: “You know, I’m absolutely easy on my mind and I’m not thinking that we have rivalry. Every gymnast is trying to raise her level and thanks God everyone is managed to do it. Sincerely, I’m trying not to follow it; I’m trying to watch myself. ”
New programs of gymnasts were given trials on recent competitions in Samara, but even small imperfections will not escape from the eye of professional.
Regulations of Gran-Prix undergo changes this year so that 4 seniors and 4 juniors of our team will be able to perform.
Irina Vinner: “Zhenechka Kanaeva and Dashechka Kondakova have absolutely new program, all 4 apparatus routines were changed. New interesting programs will be performed by them. Also Yana Lukonina has new program. Aleksandra Merkulova – Junior Olympic Champion – will compete with senior level program, also Donich Ekaterina will perform – she has become silver medalist of Russian Championship. And some other girls who recently competed as juniors will compete at the senior level.”
In spite of supremacy of gymnasts from Post-USSR countries the geography of World RG is getting wider constantly. Representatives of 35 countries arrive to Moscow, even from Mexico and Malaysia.
But Moscow is just the 1st step of the long way. The name of winner will be known only in October after the last Grand-Prix in Marbella, Spain.
I uploaded Zhenya’s breathtaking, fabulous, masterpiece Ribbon in Final-RUS 2 TV coverage to Youtube: (Big Thanks Nas75 for recording this coverage)
and here’s a short Zhenya’s interview article:
Translation for the last 2 paragraphs (Many Many Thanks My friend Alyona!!!)
– We have prepared four absolutely new routines. We tried to make them clean, but still there are mistakes. During the competition in Samara, I made some serious mistakes. And these days together with my coaches we are getting ready to perform in front of spectators in Moscow in a good level.
We have added some difficult elements. As far as I can see, the program is more risky now. We tried to combine tempo and lyricism. It is now sort of a symbiosis. I personally cannot mark out one of the routines. I would say that I realize the responsibility placed on me and I have no right to let down my coaches.
