Today – September 4, Honored Master of Sports and Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Evgenia Kanaeva visited the secondary school where she studied her 5th and 6th grade. The Assembly Hall, where the meeting took place, was packed – students, among whom were representatives of sports schools “Irtysh” and “Crusade”, and teachers, among whom was Evgenia’s instructress Natalia Titova.
The students asked a large variety of questions. They were interested in the daily routine of the two-times Olympic champion, her hard training, and when she would quit training – as she had reached the top of all achievements for any gymnasts.
Evgenia answered all the questions succinctly and with great pleasure. The gymnast admitted that she expected a warm welcome, but not in such a crazy scale. Students of the fourth grade congratulated Evgenia and showed their performances at stage. It was inevitably that in such gathering pictures were to be taken with the outstanding students of the sport classes, with the junior students, and with the teachers of the school. School Director Tatiana Korchagin said, ‘despite the fact that we did not awarded you a certificate of graduation, we will always consider you as our own. We are always concerned about you, paying attentions on the performances. When I come to work, I am always being told where you performed and won new medals.’
At her old classroom there was another surprise for Evgenia. The students of the class, which is now led by instructress Natalia Titova, made the champion a wall poster, which depicted the world of rhythmic gymnastics with photos of Evgenia in competitions and training. Evgenia Kanaeva heartily thanked all those who came to the meeting and prepared such surprises.
